Jose Mourinho was full of plaudits for Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his strike gave the Gunners an opening day victory over Newcastle United.
The Gabonese striker was found by Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the 58th minute and finished coolly with a dink over Newcastle's Martin Dubravka to give Arsenal a win in their first game of the season for just the second time in five years.
Mourinho appeared in a much-anticipated punditry debut for Sky Sports and had high praise for Aubameyang's finishing abilities.
"I think he loves to be in front of the goalkeeper," Mourinho said. "He’s cool, he loves to be there and of course, what I love to say, simplicity sometimes is genius
"That control looks simple but it’s not simple, it’s genius. Then the finishing is beautiful."
Aubameyang will be hoping it is the first goal of many as he looks to beat his 22 strikes in the Premier League last season, a tally which meant he was the joint top goalscorer along with Liverpool pair Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.
Fellow Sky Sports pundits were in agreement with Mourinho's assessment of the 30-year-old, with Graeme Souness adding: "The touch, he’s made that finish look very easy, Aubameyang. That ball was skidding off the surface, he controls it with the outside of his foot and he’s made a difficult finish look very easy. That’s the mark of a very good striker."
